Looking for a superior quality little section of heaven for your dog, don’t miss this company.

Since 1995, Mammoth Dog Beds has been bringing you the best in dog bedding. If you have a large breed, you need to listen up. Mammoth offers many styles and shapes with lots of fabric selections. What should you look for? Let’s start with size.

You should know how your dog sleeps by now. Good idea to measure the distance from neck to start of tail and get an accurate measurement. Remember that most measurements online are outer. If you dog measures 34″, then choose the sleeping arrangement. Does your dog curl or stretch. If she curls, get the round donut dog bed if she stretches, the rectangular oblong bed is for you. Oh, the large will provide lots of room if under 40″.

Next…is she older, do you need something with more softness that supports the joints or is she a puppy and just needs a comfortable place to rest. No matter which, you can’t really make a mistake with Mammoth Dog Beds. If you choose the regular high memory fiber fill that is engineered and standard on all beds, you will be fine. Some upgrades entail high memory visco elastic foam or waterproof nylon liners. This can be good if your dog has accidents in bed or needs more support for heavy weight.

All beds come apart to wash, therefore you can wash the inside parts as well as outer. You need to make sure the bed can be fully cleaned. The upholstery fabrics come with a water repellent finish which is bonus for sudden mishaps.

Best of all, the price. Mammoth sells manufacturer direct from the outlet store online. No, not from China, you would think so at such a low price, but from USA and CANADA.

Mammoth Dog Beds gets 5 stars from us, if you don’t have a Mammoth, you didn’t get a dog bed made for your dog.

There is a special sensitivity and concern at the human level that contributes to Patti’s many selfless efforts and her untiring devotion to animals. Hence no workday routine is ordinary despite the regular or customary course of things. Real excitement abounds with the anticipation of coddling her best friends. “I take care of pets for clients who are on vacation or for those persons who work long hours each day.

Many people hire me because they don’t want to settle for doggie daycare or board their pets in a kennel. I take the animals out for walks and play with them in their familiar surroundings. My clientele and their cherished companions are from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. Most of my clients live within a 50-mile radius of my home. I am also the pet sitter on site at the international airport for Delta. Because of customs imposts and procedures and/or inclement weather problems, there are some animals that will have to stay overnight. They need to be fed and walked (as they are usually stressed) and their cages need to be cleaned. I am on call primarily during weekday evening hours and on weekends for this purpose. As a responsible and caring pet owner for many years, I am very excited and proud to be operating my own business. Please call me at your convenience if I can be of assistance to you.”
Patti is professionally affiliated with Pet Sitters International (PSI), the leader and pacesetter for the professional pet-sitting industry, and the Independent Pet and Animal Transportation Association International, Inc. (IPATA). She is registered with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a certified transporter for pet relocation and transportation.

Scientists studying Antarctic waters have filmed and captured giant sea creatures, like sea spiders the size of dinner plates and jelly fish with six meter (18 feet) tentacles.

A fleet of three Antarctic marine research ships returned to Australia this week ending a summer expedition to the Southern Ocean where they carried out a census of life in the icy ocean and on its floor, more than 1,000 meters (yards) below the surface.”Gigantism is very common in Antarctic waters — we have collected huge worms, giant crustaceans and sea spiders the size of dinner plates,” Australian scientist Martin Riddle, voyage leader on the research ship Aurora Australis, said on Tuesday.

“Many live in the dark and have pretty large eyes. They are strange looking fish,” Riddle told local radio.

“Some of the video footage we have collected is really stunning — it’s amazing to be able to navigate undersea mountains and valleys and actually see what the animals look like in their undisturbed state,” Riddle said.

“In some places every inch of the sea floor is covered in life. In other places we can see deep scars and gouges where icebergs scour the sea floor as they pass by,” he said.

The Australian Antarctic Division expedition will help scientists monitor how the impact of environmental change in Antarctic waters, such as ocean acidification caused by rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, will make it harder for marine organisms to grow and sustain calcium carbonate skeletons.

“It is predicted that the first effects of this will be seen in the cold, deep waters of Antarctica,” said Riddle.

“What we saw down there were vast coraline gardens based on calcareous organisms and these are the ones that could really be lost in an increasing acidic ocean,” he said.

The three ships, the Aurora Australis, France’s L’Astrolabe and Japan’s Umitaka Maru docked in Hoabrt on Australia’s southern island state of Tasmania, with their decks full of an array of sealife including unknown species of sea creatures collected near the eastern Antarctic land mass.

Some creatures, which were retrieved from between 200 – 1,400 meters (yards) below the surface, weighed up to 30 kg (65 pounds), while some 25 percent of the sealife chronicled was previous unknown.

The census of life in the Southern Ocean is known as the Collaborative East Antarctic Marine Census (CEAMARC). The French and Japanese ships examined the mid and upper ocean, while the Australian ship studied the ocean floor.

“This research will help scientists understand how communities have adapted to the unique Antarctic environment,” said Graham Hosie, leader of the census project on Umitaka Maru.

“Specimens collected will be sent to universities and museums around the world for identification, tissue sampling and bar-coding of their DNA. Not all of the creatures that we found could be identified and it is very likely that some new species will be recorded as a result of these voyages.”

When mutant, muscle-bound puppies started showing up in litters of champion racing whippets, the breeders of the normally sleek dogs invited scientists to take DNA samples at race meets here and across the country.
They hoped to find a genetic cause for the condition and a way to purge it from the breed. It worked. “Bully whippets,” as the heavyset dogs are known, turn out to have a genetic mutation that enhances muscle development. And breeders may not want to eliminate the “bully” gene after all.
The scientists found that the same mutation that pumps up some whippets makes others among the fastest dogs on the track.

With a DNA screening test on the way, “We’re going to keep the speed and lose the bullies,” Helena James, a whippet breeder in Vancouver, British Columbia, said.
